DOVE (domestic violence eradication)
- Ankara
- 2010–
From November 2010 to March 2011 BRAGHETTEROSSE was hired by SEED Foundation, Hemsteede, The Netherlands, represented by Mrs. Caterina Occhio as designer to help create a collection of accessories to be made by women victims of domestic violence and members of a greater project funded by SEED and the Turkish Government including the creation of a shelter and the training of staff. DOVE was the designated brand name under which the items of the collection were presented.
Braghetterosse worked with the talented local women of the shelter and helped them incorporate their specific artisanal techniques into contemporary products that vehicled the fight against domestic violence.
Tecniques used were microcrochet for making jewelry, bow ties and cuff links. The traditional wood-block printing, not usually performed by women, was learned by the women through a workshop in Tokat. New wood block motifs were made specifically for the DOVE brand and t-shirts and bags were made.
The production organization of the goods was to take place through Socially Integrated manufacturing (SIM) a concept created by Braghetterosse during the brand’s earlier projects in Ethiopia.
